SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT – DEED OF GIFT – QN HOTEL AUSTRALIAN OPEN
The concept of the Australian Open trophy was devised in March 2015, by Craig Lewis, with the help of Mark Staunton. The idea was brought about to show appreciation for Clyde Daniel Lewis’ 60 years involvement in the sport of powerboat racing. The idea of the race was discussed with Clyde, only re: money involved, but was meant to be a surprise to him for this year’s Lockyer Powerfest, when he was going to be asked to present the trophy in his honour.
The following will be the rules for the inaugural QN Hotel Australian Open.
- This race is open to all cockpitted boats (i.e. inboards, outboards, hydros)
- The QN Hotel Australian Open is a one race final. The field for this race will be gathered from the times posted in any class, in any race posted up to and including Heat 3 of the Queensland Cup on Sunday. A reminder to all, that this race is open to cell only boats.
- The QN Hotel Australian Open will be a four lap final.
- The fastest 6 boats will be offered a position to compete in the QN Hotel Australian Open. Competitors must have funds of $750 dollars to enter this race and therefore be eligible to compete. If you do not have the funds, the position will be offered to the 7th fastest boat and so on.
- Pole positions will be drawn out of the hat, in front of the crowd of spectators.
- Any boat in the final that does not finish, their prize money will be divided equally amongst the other competitors.
- Prize money breakdown – 1st $4500, 2nd $3000, 3rd $1500, 4th $500, 5th $500, 6th $500 – Combined total of $10 500!
- The QN Hotel Australian Open Trophy is a very expensive trophy and will remain in the possession of the Gold Coast Power Boat & Sports Club. (Photo to come) Individual placing trophies from 1st to 6th will be given out on presentation night.

Introducing the most exciting and fun shooting gallery around.. The Hillbilly Shootout!
Meet Billy and Bob the awesome Hillbilly’s which have extremely wobbly teeth. Using your foam ball cannons partner up with a mate and see who can knock their teeth out first. This game is great for all ages, however we ask parents supervise kids under 5 years as they may need a hand.
The ball cannons work on a reverse vacuum technology and are very safe as well as fun. The Aim is to knock out all your Hillbilly’s teeth the fastest before your competitor does!

On Saturday night, Partrick street comes to life with hot rods, power boats, markets, DJ and live music! So pull out the flared skirts and dancing shoes for a night of fun for the whole family.
Check out the hot rods and classic cars on display, meet the top powerboat drivers in the country and have your photo taken with them!
From 5pm Swing-a-Billy Ray will keep your feet moving as the music pumps out from the stage. Then from 7pm the high energy of Rocky Steady hits the stage. The boys will have you dancing as they roll out your favourites from the Rock ‘n Roll era.
Food and drinks will be on sale within the event precinct.
Patrick street is closed from Spicer Street to Whites Road from 2pm – 11pm. Detours will be in place.

ATM Facilities
We are proud to announce that with the assistance of ATM2go, there will be ATM facilities at Lake Dyer, Laidley for the weekend of Lockyer Powerfest. The ATM facilities will be located close to the food vendors, kids activities and bar facilities. Look out for them, when you need cash.
KIDS ACTIVITIES – 1OF 4 – JUMPING CASTLE
With so much going on over the weekend of Lockyer Powerfest, it’s hard to imagine that kids will get bored from watching the action on the water with powerboats, jet sprint boats, wakeboard demonstrations, dragon boats and a huge array of static displays – including street rods, classic and customs, off road vehicles, drag racing cars, speedway cards, racing boats, ski-racing boats, offshore racing boats and new performance skiboats.
Just in case your little ones need some time out and fun with their friends, then there will be at least 4 options for your children to consider trying out, which include a jumping castle, hillbilly shootout, face painting and playground equipment.
The jumping castle is provided by Laugh out Loud Laugh which is a small family run business in Laidley and they have official Disney castles in stock with more to come shortly.
